Translated into seven languages, “Working in Portugal” aims to make foreign workers aware of their rights and duties in Portugal.

The Authority for Working Conditions (ACT) announced that it has launched the guide “Working in Portugal” in seven languages (Portuguese, English, Bengali, Hindi, Nepali, Mandarin, and Ukrainian).

The main topics they address are equality and non-discrimination, employment contract, wage, working hours, rest time, absences, training, parenting, health and safety at work, accident insurance, and social security.

“With these guides, we aim to help and provide a faster and more informed adaptation to everyone when they arrive in our country to work and seek better living conditions for themselves and their families,” said ACT general- inspector Fernanda Campos in a statement.

“Ensuring that we have decent working conditions is the ACT’s strongest contribution to a world of work that is increasingly open and global,” she added.

A few weeks ago, Social Security announced on its website that it was offering a new online service to request a Social Security Identification Number (NISS) for foreign or Portuguese citizens, without the need to have a citizen card.
